What is Spin the Wheel?

Spin the Wheel is a skill for Alexa enabled devices that makes the tough decisions for you.
Don’t know what to eat for dinner? What to wear? Where to go?
Spin the Wheel will decide for you.

How does it work?

The Spin the Wheel skill works by creating a [category] (restaurant, for example) then filling that [category] with {items} (Italian, Chinese, Seafood, etc.).
You say: “Alexa, ask Spin the Wheel for [restaurant].” And she will randomly select one of the {items} in that [category].

To Get Started 

1. You need to create a category. 

Examples of categories can be:
Movie, Dinner, Restaurant, Activity, etc.   Note: make your category singular!   

YOU SAY: Alexa, ask Spin The Wheel to create [name of category]

YOU SAY: “Alexa, ask Spin The Wheel to create [dinner]”

You can have as many [categories] as you want.

2. Add items to your category

After you create your first category,  Alexa will automatically ask you “What item do you want to add to [category]”

YOU SAY:  Spaghetti
She will say: I’ve added {Spaghetti} to [dinner], what else do you want to add to [dinner]
YOU SAY:  Hamburger
She will say: I’ve added {Hamburger} to [dinner], what else do you want to add to [dinner]
YOU SAY:  Hot Dogs
She will say: I’ve added {Hot Dogs} to [dinner], what else do you want to add to [dinner]
YOU SAY:  Lasagna
She will say: I’ve added {Lasagna} to [dinner], what else do you want to add to [dinner]

Add as many {items} as you want. 
When you are finished, just say “Stop”

3. Spin The Wheel

Alexa will say “Thank you and you can spin now by saying spin for dinner using Spin the Wheel”

YOU SAY: Alexa, Spin for dinner using Spin the Wheel
or you can also say it this way
YOU SAY: Alexa, ask Spin The Wheel spin for dinner
YOU SAY: Alexa, ask Spin The Wheel to spin for dinner
YOU SAY: Alexa, ask Spin The Wheel to give me dinner
YOU SAY: Alexa, ask Spin The Wheel to give me a dinner

To make another category, just repeat step #1.

Alexa will remember your categories and the items you have listed in each category.
The next time you need help deciding what to have for dinner, just simply ask Alexa using the commands above.

To List Categories

If you forget what categories you have created, just ask Alexa for a list of categories.

YOU SAY: Alexa, ask Spin The Wheel to show me categories
YOU SAY: Alexa, show me categories using Spin The Wheel
YOU SAY: Alexa, ask Spin The Wheel for a category list

To add an item to a category

At any time you can add an {item} to a [category] already created by saying:

YOU SAY: Alexa, ask Spin The Wheel to add {item} to [category]
YOU SAY: Alexa, ask Spin The Wheel to add {Fried Rice} to [dinner]
or
YOU SAY: Alexa, add {Fried Rice}  to [dinner] using Spin The Wheel

and she will say “I have added Fried Rice to Dinner”

If you have more than one {item} to add, you will need to repeat the same phrase again with the new {item} that you want to add.

To Delete a Category

You can Delete a Category that you no longer want to use by saying:

YOU SAY: Alexa, ask Spin The Wheel to delete [name of category]
YOU SAY: Alexa, ask Spin The Wheel to delete [dinner]

To delete an item from a category

You can delete an item from any category by saying:

YOU SAY: Alexa, ask Spin The Wheel to delete {item} from [category]
YOU SAY: Alexa, ask Spin The Wheel to delete {Hamburger} from [dinner]
or
YOU SAY: Alexa, delete {Hamburger} from [dinner] using Spin The Wheel

She will say “I have deleted Hamburger from dinner”.

If you have more {items} that you want to delete off your list, you will need to repeat the phrase with the new {item} that you want to delete.
